Teacher Quotes from eDGE Professional Learning

Creativity and student-led learning is such a great practice and creating these video games is doing just that for these students. They are getting to explore a new way to learn and evolve. This is not something they would typically do in a day to day education sitting, so seeing them have fun while also learning has been a big reward for me. Kelsey B, Hartville

Computational thinking and guided learning completely change the way students learn in a classroom. Guided inquiry helps kids to question the process for different problems. This helps strengthen the understanding of each problem and solution they solve. Computational thinking gives students the skills to break down their problems into manageable steps so they can tackle them head on. I believe these concepts are helping students deepen their learning experiences and become better problem solvers. McKenzie D, Hartville
Guided discovery impacts learning with students in many ways. Students discover various ways to accomplish the task at hand and this helps students feel empowered and motivates them to continue discovering. Students who use guided discovery in game design and programming are rewarded when they code something and it works. Students also love to share knowledge with others and this creates synergy in the classroom. Jenet B, Cameron

As I have discovered, programming and learning go hand in hand with one another. Programming requires critical thinking, problem solving, and connection making. Our learning is designed in the same way so that students complete the same process. We know that students should learn how to think rather than what to think. Programming provides students with crucial skills that allows them to learn. Caden F, Jefferson
