Carla was a classroom teacher for 8 year prior to joining eMINTS. She has extensive background working with schools and educators to design and manage professional development programs. Carla is highly adept at supporting schools in the implementation of STEM/STEAM initiatives across a variety of contexts including rural, urban, and suburban schools. She is the Principal Investigator for the eDGE Grant Project.

She has been in education training and program management for over five years. In 2022, she joined eMINTS and continues to support multiple grant initiatives. With a background in STEM education and technology integration, she provides professional development to educators and schools.
University of Colorado Boulder ConsultantDavid C. Webb is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Colorado Boulder. Webb's research interests include teachers’ design and use of classroom assessment and the design of professional development activities to develop teacher expertise in classroom assessment. He currently focuses on the design of instructional resources that promote active learning, computational thinking and executive function in K-16 STEM education. Webb was a secondary mathematics and CSEd teacher in Southern California. He teaches courses for prospective mathematics and science teachers, including courses that focus on assessment design and practice and the development of student centered instruction.
AgentSheets, Inc.Nadia Repenning is the CEO and a founder of AgentSheets Inc., a company focused on developing and implementing software environments for agent-based models and simulations in STEM education. Nadia has dedicated her career to making computational thinking and programming accessible to students of all ages. AgentSheets' products are designed to be used in a wide range of subjects and have been used by teachers in K-12 schools and universities around the world. Nadia is passionate about the development and implementation of educational technology in K-12 schools, and providing professional development for teachers. She has worked with US government agencies NSF and NIH, partnered with universities and non-profit organizations to develop curricula for CS in K-12 public education, and has published academic papers on the use of agent-based games and simulations in K-12 schools.
Corrina Perrone Smith
Corrina Perrone Smith is Product Manager for AgentSheets, Inc. She manages CS tutorial/curriculum development, and the AgentCubes online product. Her background is in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science research with an emphasis on Educational Software. She was one of the first to connect educational software to the internet, for which she won a Gold Medal from the Mayor of Paris, France at WWW5 for “Best Paper/Best Application of the WWW to Education.” Her research has included many pioneering meta-programming applications, including for Analogous Programming, Decision Support for Large Databases, Artificial Intelligence for Command, Control, Simulation, and Diagnostics for spacecraft, and automatic LAN diagnostics and configuration repair. Aside from her Computer Science degree, she holds certifications in Integrative Trauma Therapy, Ashtanga Yoga Instruction, and Somatic Bodywork. She is a Level III Sommelier and Consulting Chef. |
eMINTS National Center DirectorCara Wylie was a classroom teacher for 11 years in the St. Louis area before joining eMINTS in 2000. Since then, she has worked with teachers, administrators and technology specialists through professional development and on-site support. She is currently the eMINTS Associate Director.
SRI - External EvaluationArif Rachmatullah is a STEM education researcher at SRI International and part of the external evaluation team for the eDGE Grant Project. Arif earned his PhD in learning and teaching in STEM with a concentration in science education and a minor in cognitive science from North Carolina State University. Arif works at the intersection of science education and computer science/computational thinking (CS/CT) education at the K–12 levels. Arif uses quantitative and mixed-methods approaches to study K–12 students’ and teachers’ learning and teaching science using computer programming, as well as how such integrated learning environments influence students’ conceptual understanding of, attitudes toward, and interest in careers related to science and computer science, or STEM in general.
Andrea Beesley has more than 20 years of experience designing and leading large research, evaluation, and design and development projects. She focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), digital learning, motivation, and learning sciences. As an educational psychologist and instructional designer, she conducts experimental and mixed methods studies of STEM program efficacy and development studies of new programs. Her background as a classroom teacher informs her focus on research in partnership with practitioners. At SRI, she directs the STEM program area.
Carol Tate is a Senior Education Researcher specializing in design, research, and evaluation projects with a focus on improving teaching quality in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Her expertise is in instrument development, qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting. Tate’s primary research interest relates to how curriculum design and contextual factors interact to affect teaching quality and student learning. In recent work at SRI, she has evaluated professional development initiatives and efforts to broaden access to computer science education in K–12.
